Mike is a 26-year veteran of the construction industry. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree from The Virginia Military Institute, he started his construction career in the greater Baltimore and Washington, D.C. area. Since 2000, Mike has called Charlotte home. He has completed over $500 million in base building and interior construction projects throughout the Carolinas.

Mike left the General Contracting industry in 2010 to work for a contract furniture dealer. After three and a half years of success in the furniture industry, Mike realized he missed construction and founded Playbook in 2014. 


Mike is passionate about building teams and projects. He draws on his natural leadership skills and his diverse experiences in construction and contract furniture to build and lead teams and to ensure effective collaboration to achieve project success.


Mike also holds a Master of Business Administration from Wake Forest University's Babcock Graduate School of Management. When he isn't reading drawings or analyzing a schedule, he enjoys volunteering as a youth coach for his son's sports teams, playing golf, grilling out and reading. Mike serves on the board of Mecklenburg Area Catholic Schools and coaches YMCA youth sports.

Carl has 15 years of successful project management with completion of over $200 million commercial interiors and base building projects in the Carolinas and across the U.S. His experience in construction includes commercial interiors with a focus on corporate headquarters, automotive, manufacturing, medical, restaurant and retail.


He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from UNC Charlotte and is a LEED Green Associate. In his free time, he is a volunteer coach for his son’s and daughter’s youth sports teams.. He also enjoys golfing and any outdoor activities.

NAME:   Elise R. Rainville

POSITION:   Senior Project Manager

HOMETOWN:   Christmas, FL

ALMA MATER:   University of Florida


Elise has over 23 years of management experience in both architecture and interior projects. She holds a Bachelor of Design in Architecture from the University of Florida and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. After graduating from UNC Charlotte, she began her career with architectural firms in the Charlotte area. She has successfully completed over $600 million in building and interior construction projects throughout the Carolinas.


Elise has a history of dedication to the success of each project, representing the client’s interests while balancing budget, schedule and scope. Her greatest skill is the ability to listen to clients and translate their needs into action.


When Elise is not managing projects, she enjoys tending her community garden, hiking and kayaking with her family.

POSITION:   Senior Project Manager

HOMETOWN:   Jefferson, WI & Chattanooga, TN

ALMA MATER:   University of Tennessee, Knoxville


Laurie has more than 28 years of management experience in the contract furniture industry and architectural, interior design and project management firms. She has built out more than $500 million in building and interior construction projects throughout the U.S. Her areas of expertise include commercial interior upfit, automotive, motorsports and banking. Laurie’s passion is listening to her client’s goals and turning them into reality. She builds successful teams, collaborating and organizing her projects to effectively deliver them on time, within budget.


Laurie is also an NC Real Estate Broker and a member of USGBC North Carolina. In her spare time, she likes to read, play with her dog and visit her three grown children in Alabama, Texas and Tennessee.

NAME:   Jay Fisher
POSITION:   Senior Project Manager

Jay’s career in project management began in the telecom industry over 20 years ago in his hometown of Northern Virginia. He later moved into residential construction management, building large estate homes, before moving to North Carolina in 2000.  


Jay quickly progressed to managing an integral community build, including infrastructure, lot designation, condos, upscale townhomes, carriage homes, mixed use buildings and up-fits. His career then shifted to commercial construction, working on large-scale projects in Charlotte. Since then he has worked as a lead Operations and Project Manager for a leader in building indoor playgrounds for multiple large malls and entertainment venues across the U.S. 


Jay enjoys the challenge of unique projects. He prides himself on being able to use his past experiences and “find a way” attitude to build teams and successfully deliver on each and every project. 


When Jay is not managing projects, he enjoys spending time with his family, watching sports (especially his kids), working out, enjoying his wife’s cooking and volunteering at church or schools. You might even find him on a field playing in a local sports league.
